This listing is for complete production of VOCALOID/UTAU original songs, under certain conditions. If you would like a song done with a human vocalist, please email your project proposal to me at lystrialle (at) gmail.com instead of reserving a commission slot here, as coordinating a project schedule with the vocalist will require its own process.

Please note that, as I am a hobbyist, due to the very large amount of labor overhead and time consumption it takes to produce a whole song from start to finish, I may have to decline the commission simply due to lack of time.

  • Minimum turnaround time: 3 months (please note that I may be able to deliver earlier, but it may involve an extra fee).
  • Price and details listed here are based on an approximately 4-minute song with one primary vocal line. Adjustments will be made based on the actual scope of the project.
  • This is an "all-in-one" package for which I can compose, arrange, write lyrics for, tune vocals for, mix, and master a VOCALOID/UTAU song from scratch.
  • My specialty is primarily in ethnic folk, neofolk, and hybrid genres thereof (please refer to my portfolio for a full range of things I can do). I can attempt to do work in other genres, but can make no guarantees about the potential quality.
  • I can only use VOCALOID or UTAU vocals I have legal access to. This means a VOCALOID vocal from my current ownership list, or a freely available UTAU (or one that you provide yourself).
  • I can only make a song with English lyrics. I am not taking commissions using my own conlangs at this time. (See "Collaboration options" below for the exception to this rule.)
  • Delivered material will include any or all of the following:
    • The fully produced song in mastered and/or unmastered versions, in .wav form.
    • The song's instrumental, in mastered and/or unmastered versions, in .wav form.
    • A MIDI file with the song's vocal lines.
    • The VOCALOID (.mid/.vsqx/.vpr) or UTAU (.ust) file used for tuning, along with any other information to make the files operational. Note that I usually use the V5 editor for V3-5 vocals, but I also have access to V4 and Piapro Studio and can tune in either of those if a client does not have access to V5 and would like to be able to modify the file themself. I can also export a V2-3 compatible .vsq if the client needs it.
  • Since this is work from scratch, if the commission is cancelled, I reserve the right to use the work made from the request for my own personal purposes.

Commercial use policy

By default, this listing and above price estimate is for the service of me producing an entire song from beginning to end, and does not include intellectual property rights. This means that I will assume the right to retain the song and further modifications for my own portfolio and future use. The sole right the client will retain will be to use the version of the song I deliver to them for any non-commercial, or implicitly non- or minimal-profit projects (for instance, collaborative charity compilation albums, limited-print doujinshi, etc.) that are determined at the time of the request. The client will not, by default, retain future rights to the song for future projects.

In addition, in using the commissioned song, the client must cite me with named attribution/credit for my work, and may not redistribute the instrumental or vocal data file (nor modify it thereof) in any capacity.

If the client needs to assume intellectual property rights to the song for any reason, this can be negotiated, but an extra fee will be charged to account for me surrendering intellectual property rights to the client. The amount will depend on the terms negotiated, regarding issues such as: what purposes the song will be used for in the future; whether revenue for the song is expected to be generated and how much.

I am capable of negotiating a royalty scheme in lieu of a one-time commission fee, in which case please email your project proposal to me at lystrialle (at) gmail.com instead of reserving a commission slot here.

If you anticipate that your project will require long-term, sustained involvement for a much larger project rather than a single one-off one, please email your project proposal to me at lystrialle (at) gmail.com instead of reserving a commission slot here.

Collaboration options

In the case that a client chooses to purchase intellectual property rights to the song, a few more options open up:
  • Conlang lyrics: If you would like me to use your own conlang/fictional language for your song, please provide me any necessary documentation of your language's rules. There may be a small upcharge to account for time I need to familiarize myself with the language, and I may be ultimately unable to take on the project if I find it to be beyond my scope of ability. I will not be providing my own conlang, so you'll have to bring your own.
  • Extra assets: In addition to the usual deliverables, I can also provide instrumental stems in .wav form. However, I do ask, even with intellectual property rights purchased, that the individual instrument stems are not publicly redistributed in any capacity, and remain for internal use only by the client and anyone they work with.
