This listing is specifically for original vocal songs -- for songs intended solely as BGM, please refer to the listing here. For vocal song remixes, please refer to the listing here.

  • Minimum turnaround time: 1 month (please note that I may be able to deliver earlier, but it may involve an extra fee).
  • Price and details listed here are based on an approximately 4-minute song. Adjustments will be made based on the actual scope of the project.
  • My specialty is primarily in ethnic folk, neofolk, and hybrid genres thereof (please refer to my portfolio linked above for a full range of things I can do). I can attempt to do work in other genres, but can make no guarantees about the potential quality.
  • I can do arrangement for songs intended both for human vocalists and for vocalsynth ones like VOCALOID.
    • In the case of human vocalists, I can do vocal tuning, but note that this will involve an upcharge depending on the number of lines. VOCALOID/UTAU tuning falls into its own category due to the high labor overhead; please refer to this listing if you need this service as well.
    • Although it would be preferable for me to have a proper vocal line to work with, I can still arrange even if a vocal line hasn't been recorded or created yet, as long as I'm at least provided with a MIDI with the intended vocal lines.
  • Delivered material will include the arrangement in whichever format is preferred by the client:
    • By default, I mix and master as I arrange. If vocal lines have been provided, I can provide a .wav file with the mixed/mastered product. (I can also provide an unmastered version, in case the client needs it for albums or larger projects.)
    • I can also provide a mixed version of the instrumental, in both mastered and unmastered forms.
    • If the vocal line still hasn't been finished by the end of the commission period, and/or the client would prefer to mix or master themself, I can provide all of the individual stems in .wav form. Please note that I will not provide a final mixdown if vocals are not completed by the time of the commission's completion date (i.e. I will not be able to wait on vocals if they're still not ready by the time I finish).

Before commissioning, please have the following ready:

  • One or both of the following: a MIDI file with the intended vocal melody/melodies (including all harmonies and countermelodies), or sound files of all of the vocal lines (including all harmonies and countermelodies). (I will not be able to work on an arrangement for a song that has not yet been composed.)
    • If you are providing vocal lines, please also provide the lyrics for your song.
  • At least three "reference" songs with the approximate mood or arrangement style you're interested in having the commissioned arrangement be like (it's okay if your samples aren't exactly what you're looking for, as long as they're a decent starting point).

Commercial use policy

By default, I will consider the arrangement delivered to be the intellectual property of the song's original producer (regardless of whether or not the client and producer are the same entity), and they will be free to use and build upon said arrangement for any future project without requesting permission or paying an extra fee, provided all other policies are followed. However, I have two stipulations on such usage:
  • that I receive proper named attribution/credit for my work, and
  • that the individual instrument stems are not publicly redistributed in any capacity, and remain for internal use only by the producer and anyone they work with.

The service provided here is generally intended for personal projects. Commercial usage (via digital sales or monetization such as Patreon) of what I deliver is approved under the condition that revenue does not exceed $500. Therefore:

  • If your project is entirely non-commercial, or implicitly non- or minimal-profit (for instance, collaborative charity compilation albums, limited-print doujinshi, etc.), please email your project proposal to me at lystrialle (at) gmail.com before reserving a commission slot here. Depending on my schedule, my personal level of interest, and the scope of the request, I may be able to discount or even potentially waive the commission fee.
  • If you expect that revenue from your song, or a project containing your song, will exceed $500, depending on the scope of the project I may ask for an increased commission fee, so please indicate in your request what your expected revenue for your project will be.
  • I am capable of negotiating a royalty scheme in lieu of a one-time commission fee, in which case please email your project proposal to me at lystrialle (at) gmail.com instead of reserving a commission slot here.
  • If you anticipate that your project will require long-term, sustained involvement for a much larger project rather than a single one-off one, please email your project proposal to me at lystrialle (at) gmail.com instead of reserving a commission slot here.
