I'm Becca Gowdy, aka Bex.
I build worlds. I write adventures. I paint imagination.
I'm an artist living in Winchester, Virginia in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Ever since I was young my imagination has taken me to far off places. My love of animals, mythical or real, along with my fascination of folklore stories was evident at a young age.
What do I do?
I like to explore the bounds of imaginations and tell stories through images. I draw dragons, unicorns, and other mythical animals and people who live alongside them. I build worlds where magic rules in distant galaxies and people fight monsters in epic battles of good vs. evil. Simply put, I create fantasy art.
My work is primarily digital, but I also work with pencil, pen and ink, mixed media, and watercolor. Like all fantasy art and story are intrinsically linked, and mine is no exception--behind each piece there is a story. Humans are wired to for a good story. I create to tell my stories. I want to explore worlds beyond my own experience and find the adventurous piece of me that I thought lost to childhood.
And I want to bring you along for the ride.
